In Spade’s home of Wyndhail, people bury their dead with their jewels and riches as part of a belief that this honours the dead. Spade’s family is descended from a long line of grave thieves, and they dig up coffins with the hopes of finding jewels to trade on the blackmarket.

Throughout history, there have been many different instances of grave thieving. In Egypt, tomb robbers constantly raided tombs of pharaohs and Egyptian nobility in order to steal the jewels and riches that were placed with the body. Here’s what we know about Egyptian grave thieves!
